A model of diplomacy
Participants in the Model United Nations Conference last weekend in Munich were much more enthusiastic about making decisions than their professional role models at the United Nations. On the initiative of TUM School of Management, 300 cross-faculty students from 50 different countries simulated the work of committees at the United Nations at the IsarMUN Conference, the Munich Model United Nations Conference – the second largest in Germany and the fastest-growing in Europe. The event brings together students from all over the world who have dealt with international problems and developed relevant solutions on a theoretical basis. The participants join various committees, each representing a different country, defending its interests in the best possible way. The aim is to gain experience in diplomacy and international relations and to experience how the United Nations works in practice – skills that are not only valuable in the political context, but which can help participants in their professional life and day-to-day dealings with each other. With the exception of the Special Committee on Peace Negotiations in Yemen, all the model committees were able to pass joint resolutions.
