ARD-alpha: Prof. Dr. Gunther Friedl about economic consequences of corona crisis
Empty shelves of flour and toilet paper, miles of traffic jams on the borders. The consequences of the Corona crisis are deeply worrying people. “The situation is serious, but we don’t need to worry about security of supply in Germany for the next few weeks.” This was emphasized by Prof. Dr. Gunther Friedl, Dean of the TUM School of Management yesterday evening in the Corona consulting hour (Sprechstunde) on ARD-alpha. Together with Prof. Dr. Thomas Löscher, an infectious disease and tropical medicine expert, Gunther Friedl answered the questions of the host of the show and the TV audience.
Despite the tense economic situation, Friedl encouraged the audience and pointed to the financial crisis of 2008/2009, from which the economy had suffered severely, but from which it had emerged stronger. “That gives hope.” It is important that the German Government now provides selective support to sectors and companies that are particularly affected.

In a video, the supply chain management expert and mathematician illustrates how quickly the virus can spread if no suitable countermeasures are taken.
