Book publication about Digital Work Design
The book “Digital Work Design: Die Big Five für Arbeit, Führung und Organisation im digitalen Zeitalter” (translation: “Digital Work Design: The big five for work, leadership and organization in the digital era”) by Dr. Isabell M. Welpe, Dr. Prisca Brosi and Dr. Tanja Schwarzmüller was published on February 15, 2018 by the publishing house Campus.
In the book, the three authors describe structural requirements for a successful implementation of digital transformations in organizations. The big five for success in the digital era are:
1. Dealing with the VUCA world will be a core competency
2. There is no disruption without (new forms of) team work
3. Organizations need to become more democratic
4. The importance of relationships
5. Organizations need to focus more on health
Next to evident-based recommendations for action, the book offers a self-diagnostics check and a ten-point plan to put the theory into practice.
Prof. Dr. Isabell M. Welpe is holder of the Chair for Strategy and Organization at TUM School of Management. Her research interests are in New Public Management, leadership, future concepts of work and organizations, impact of digital technologies and social media and strategic innovation. Dr. Prisca Brosi is a postdoctoral researcher at the chair and her research covers the influence of diversity and emotions in leadership and management as well as digital transformation in organizations. Dr. Tanja Schwarzmüller is a senior research fellow at the chair and her research focuses on how digitzation changes work design and leadership.
