Executive MBA “Class of 2019” Completes Module “Finance & Accounting”

Blending the most recent research findings with hands-on applications: From 7 – 12 September, 2017, our EMBA Class of 2019 explored the field of corporate financing in the Executive MBA Module “Finance & Accounting”. With a strong focus on business practice, the module not only provided all the tools for strategic financial decision-making, but also challenged participants to apply their new skills.

TUM professors Prof. Dr. Gunter Friedl and Prof. Dr. Christoph Kaserer as well as practical lecturers including Frank Nagel (Partner at Deloitte Transactional Services) introduced the Class to the fundamentals of Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, and Corporate Finance & Evaluation.

The program also continued the Leadership & Personal Development Program: Today’s business leaders need the skills to use new media to their advantage. Providing the necessary know-how, our media training showed participants how to present themselves and their business ideas effectively in video format.

Presenting ideas effectively was also on the agenda on the final day of the module: Guided by our corporate communications expert Rainer Westermann, the Class of 2019 simulated a realistic financial results press conference, taking on the roles of board of directors, corporate communications, investor relations, and the media.

As a special treat, the Class toured the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in the town of Oberpfaffenhofen. The excursion was initiated by aerospace expert Sergi Ginebrera (EMBA Class of 2018) and provided a memorable look behind the scenes of the German space program, including live communications with the International Space Station (ISS) and the European satellite navigation system Galileo.

What’s next on the curriculum? In October, part of our Class of 2019 will engage in the next fundamental module of their Executive MBA: “Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Digital Transformation”. All other participants will already commence work on their masters theses, before the entire Class will visit our partner university, the Tsinghua University Beijing in China.
