Honorary citizenship for the president of the Technical University Munich
A great honor for the president of the Technical University Munich (TUM) Prof. Wolfgang A. Herrmann: For his engagement in helping the city of Straubing to build a science and university location, he received the honorary citizenship of the city of Straubing on Friday, October 20.
“For the city of Straubing the cooperation with the Technical University Munich is a particular stroke of luck”, mayor Markus Pannermayr said. “The status of being a fully integrated location of this internationally highly recognized university is a great and important step forward for us.” Prof. Herrmann had contributed to this breakthrough in a special way with extraordinary personal commitment. “We are very proud and thankful to have Prof. Herrmann as a close friend and campaigner by our side”, Pannermayr added.
The ceremony took place during a celebratory meeting of the city council in the knight’s hall at Herzogsschloss.
On October 1, 2017 the act for the establishment of the TUM Campus Straubing for Biotechnology and Sustainability, that was unanimously resolved Bavarian state parliament, became effective. Therby the fourth location of TUM is established. At the same time the city of Straubing became a university town. From the 2017/18 winter semester TUM School of Management’s Bachelor’s degree in Management and Technology with the specialization in “Renewable Resources” is offered exclusively on the new campus in Straubing.
