Module “Business Processes & Technology” Features Interactive Learning Methods

Participants in our Executive MBA in Business & IT kicked off the new year with a digital business simulation and interactive learning methods. From 28 January – 1 February, the module “Business Processes & Technology” showcased the latest insights at the intersection between general management and information technology (IT).

  1. Directed by Prof. Dr. Helmut Krcmar, TUM Chair for Information Systems, the module analyzed the impact of digital transformation on international business structures with a roster of high-profile guest speakers. The module’s many highlights included an evening session on “Business Processes & Technology at Henkelpresented Dr. Joachim Jäckle, Corporate Senior Vice President Integrated Business Solutions (IBS) at Henkel.
  2. The module also challenged participants to demonstrate their leadership skills during a digital planning game: The interactive Simulation CIO Business Game featured real-life parameters for direct feedback on strategic business decisions. It was developed in-house by TUM experts Prof. Dr. Helmut Krcmar, Dr. Markus Böhm and Dr. Harald Kienegger.
  3. Participants also used the chance to improve their personal skill sets with a Story Lining course by Executive Coach Martin Stellmacher. As another part of our Leadership & Personal Development offering, they also completed an English Writing Course with vocal coach Jeremiah Hendren from Pro-Lehre, the department for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education at TUM.

As a special addition to the curriculum, the Executive MBA Alumni Association hosted a panel discussion on “Use Cases in Virtual Reality in Organizations Today” moderated by EMBA alumna Julia Specht. The group learned about the latest applications of VR at Deutsche Bahn from VIP-speaker Sabrina Schulze, Head of New Learning Solutions and Business Excellence at DB Training. Further examples of VR in business practice were provided by Uli Buckenlei, EMBA alumnus and founder of Viroic together with colleague Natalia Daniltseva as well as by Sarah Knobloch, Chair of Lebensland e.V.

Coming up next, participants will cover the latest research findings at the intersection of Markets, Laws & Ethics in a module under the same name from 25 February – 1 March 2019 at St. Gallen University in Switzerland. The five-day module is primarily aimed at business leaders in the age of digital disruption.

Please note: The individual modules of our Executive MBA in Business & IT can also be booked as certificate programs. Upon successful completion of the respective certificate exams, participants receive ECTS Credits as well as a TUM-certificate.
