Module “IT-Security & Privacy Management” Presents Latest Findings in Cyber Security

How can global companies meet the increasing challenges posed by cyber security and online criminals? Executive MBA in Business & IT participants learned the answers from 22 – 26 October in the Module
“IT-Security & Privacy Management” headed by Academic Program Director Prof. Dr. Helmut Krcmar.

For this module, 15 new participants started their journey towards certification as Executive MBAs in Business & IT. The module outlined new threat scenarios and strategies for corporate business practice. Starting off the module, Prof. Dr. Jens Grossklags from the TUM Chair for Cyber Trust dedicated an entire focus topic day “IT-Security”.

Rounding out a comprehensive course curriculum, guest speakers provided expert insights into IT-Security in business practice: In the presentation on “Security Strategy at Lufthansa”, the airline’s cyber safety measures were outlined by Abdou-Naby Diaw (CISO, Vice President Cyber Security and Head of Cross Functional Processes of Lufthansa Group).

Covering current legal aspects of IT security, Dr. Henriette Picot of legal counsel Bird & Bird gave a lecture on “Big Data – A Legal Perspective”. Participants also received a glimpse into company-wide privacy compliance at Deutsche Bahn courtesy of Bettina Robrecht (Head of Employee & Customer Privacy, Deutsche Bahn AG).

For more practical insights, the group attended a company visit and workshop at MunichRE under the direction of EMBA-alumni Oliver Lenze and Florian Wittemann, including a lecture on “Cyber Risks – An Insurance Point Of View”.

As part their Leadership & Personal Development, participants completed a workshop in “Cyber Risks & Crisis Prevention” featuring Rainer Westermann of Westermann Advisors. During a Business Etiquette Dinner with Imme Vogelsang and Catherine Tenger at Café Reitschule, participants learned how to make a favorable impression during business dinners in different cultural contexts.

Please note: The individual modules of our Executive MBA in Business & IT can also be booked as certificate programs. Upon successful completion of the respective certificate exams, participants receive ECTS Credits as well as a TUM-certificate. Please submit your applications at least eight weeks before the start of the first course modules.
