New Research Training Group “AdONE” commences work

The research training group “Advanced Optimization in a Networked Economy (AdONE)” has started its research and training program in September 2017, admitting the first international student cohort to the program.

AdONE is a joint initiative of researchers at TUM School of Management, TUM School of Informatics, TUM School of Mathematics ,the Center of Operations Research which is, due to its interdisciplinary focus, part of the IGSSE (International Graduate School of Science and Engineering) within TUM Graduate School. The Research Group especially addresses new challenges for operations research and management science in the networked economy. TUM School of Management is represented by four researches: Prof. Dr. Martin Grunow, Professor of Production and Supply Chain Management, Prof. Dr. Rainer Kolisch, Professor of Operations Management, Prof. Dr. Stefan Minner, Professor of Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and Prof. Dr. Andreas S. Schulz, Professor of Operations Research. The Research Program is coordinated by Dr. Yoshimi von Felbert.

Decision support for innovative mobility solutions and resource sharing, focusing shared mobility, inventory pooling, coordination in retail transportation logistics, allocation in sales and operations planning, resource allocation in IT infrastructure management and operations of airport resources and air cargo prediction occupy center stage within AdONE’s focus on challenges for operations research and management science in the networked economy.

The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation) has approved the group with financial support of 3 million euros for the next 4.5 years, thereby offering doctoral candidates the opportunity to research at a high level in the context of a structured research and qualification program and providing young researchers with an interdisciplinary framework in which they can acquire independent research skills and can attain and foster exchange options and networking opportunities beyond subject-specific and geographical borders.
