TUM coordinates new Postdoc-Program

The Technical University Munich (TUM) is leading the new EuroTech Postdoc-Program with a total number of 80 young scientists, sponsored by the European Union. After gaining their doctorates, these upcoming talents will have the possibility to extend their scientific profile by taking part in a cross-border project at at least two top universities from the EuroTech Universities Alliance. The Alliance consists of Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU) in Kopenhagen, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Lausanne, Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (TU/e) in Eindhoven and Technische Universität München (TUM) in Munich. The EuroTech Alliance introduced this new project at the yearly “High Level Event“ in Brussels, which is cooperatively financed by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND Program and the alliance partners.

The application is possible in five different fields of research: Health & Bioengineering, Smart & Urban Mobility, Data Science & Engineering, High Performance Computing and Entrepreneurship & Innovation. The selection of a “home-university” and one other university for a research visit will guarantee optimized framework conditions.

TUM Vicepresident Prof. Thomas Hofmann said, “The essence of this program is the interdisciplinary culture of communication across borders, which will pave the way for our young scientists and their future career”. Furthermore, all participating universities from the EuroTech Postdoc Program will benefit from their corporate network and complementary research.

Aside from scientific progress, a large range of offers for entrepreneurship and innovative ecosystems are awaiting the emerging talents in the metropolises Eindhoven, Lausanne, Copenhagen and Munich. In addition, the EuroTech Postdoc-Program provides support for the participants and their start-ups with the marketing for new ideas and how to get in contact with sponsors and partners.
