TUM Speakers Series: Carsten Spohr – Deutsche Lufthansa AG

The next installment of the TUM Speakers Series will take place on November 15 in the Audimax of the TUM main campus in Munich. Carsten Spohr, CEO of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, will be the featured guest. He has lead Lufthansa since 2014, helping the company reclaim the title of largest European airline.

The German publication Manager Magazin selected Spohr as Manager of the Year in 2017 for his role in reorganizing Lufthansa in the face of internal and external pressures. This ability to transform potential threats into positive opportunities will be an unofficial theme of the talk. Spohr will speak about the challenges facing Lufthansa and the entire airline industry, Lufthansa’s role in helping the industry evolve to meet these challenges, innovation as a driver for large-scale changes, and more.

Students from the TUM Business Club organize the Speakers Series, which has featured more than 70 events since 1999. The organizers seek to involve other students in discussion of important political and economic issues by inviting prominent figures from these areas to speak. Students have the chance to learn more about what brought the speakers their success, speakers can learn about the views and feelings of today’s young people, and both sides have the chance to expand their personal and professional networks.

The event will begin at 5:45 p.m., with the doors opening at 5:20 p.m. Entrance is free, and no registration is required. The organizers request those who will attend to confirm this on the event page to help them anticipate the crowd size more accurately.
